As a student, the most difficult thing is not to get an assignment well-done or to do an excellent presentation. But the disadvantage is that it is hard for you to find out the main point of every lecture. For example, you want to revise the IPA symbols. You know it is taught in week five. When you play the audio file, you have two options. First, listen to the file from beginning to the end. Second, you keep on rewind and forward the file in order to find out the related part. Both of them may take you certain time.
Another option is to record the lecture by digital camera. Although it still has the disadvantage stated above, it brings you convenience. You can not only listen to the voice, but also watch what is written on the board. It helps enhance your understanding.
Of course, before you choose any of the above two options, you have to ask your lecturer's permission. Some lecturers do not like being recorded in class because they may feel nervous.
